Where is everyone?

Is everyone spending some quality time at base over the weekend or what?

RIAA between rock and a hard place

From Boing Boing!.

Long story short. Record labels have deals with artists that they get money from licenced sales more than they get from normal sales.

Music bought from digital store is "licenced", which means that us consumers cant copy, give it to friend etc. But when giving royalties to music artists, Sony et co bills them under "sales" which means we can copy, give them to friends etc.

So, when we get music from net, artist is screwed, either by us (illegal downloads) or by record label (legal downloads).

Awesome videos

These are all found thru compfused.com, of which Enderin introduced me to. Thank you End.

Rainbow!. In the seventies, there was a kids program. It was a very nice kids programs, and the people in the program liked each other very much, and so decided to do one episode just for themselves, to be shown in the company's christmas party. Learn how to play with balls!

How to turn something very masculine (skateboarding) into as gay as ballet.

Computer animation. Very awesome five minute story, as good as Pixar's short films (have you seen them? If not, it can be arranged).

Missing glass. I think End linked me to this.

Biathon. Also known as "finnish drive-by shooting".

Frank's Home Abortion. This is just AWESOME.

Mr T. Talks about FASHION. Real shame I aren't about ten years older. I would have liked to wear those clothes. Particulary that Kimono and Bowler-hat. (I assume it was a laddie wearing them).

Bad music videos for comical value!

Danny ja Armi: I want to love you tender (Yes, its from Finland, now shuddup)
I dont know what this is, but it has lots of half-naked men and the music track has a man talking how he will fuck Pope and Hitler. Youre mum dosent want to see you watching this, but its very hilarious. I watched about half a minute before I couldnt take anymore.
80s. Looks like a superman-look-a-like is molesting kids with Michael Jackson look-alike singing. After halfaway it changes from something vaguely rappish to classicsh gaysong.
Mr. T and WTF?

Zero Tolerance at America!

Something similar happened to me few years back. I was at airport, readying to go thru the metal detector when I remembered my pencil case had swiss army knife in there. I voluntarily mentioned it to the guard, who recommended me to buy a letter and mail the knife back home, as I couldnt take it to the plane.

If this would have been in America, I would prolly still be in jail.

Girls attempt real-life version of video game

Residents alarmed; teens could be charged

Beacon Journal staff report

Five teenage girls from Portage County face potential criminal charges after attempting to play a real-life version of Super Mario Bros.

The Portage County Hazardous Materials Unit and Bomb Detection Unit were called in to downtown Ravenna on Friday morning after seventeen suspicious packages -- boxes wrapped in gold wrapping paper with question marks spray painted on them -- had alarmed residents.

Boxes were found at the Immaculate Conception Church on West Main Street, the Portage County Courthouse, Deluxe Pastries, the corner of Cherry Way and Main Street, Reed Memorial Library, Ravenna High School and a residence at Sanford and Main streets.

Five girls -- age 16 and 17 -- claimed responsibility for making and placing the packages. The girls said they found an Internet site that included step-by-step instructions for creating replicas of blocks featured in the game.

The Ravenna Police Department will be working with the Portage County Prosecutor's Office regarding possible criminal charges as a result of the game.

Link here. Please note the article is dated on April the First. It might be hoax and... then again, not. It might be genuine news article, and days later there still isint any implication that this was done to fool people.

In case you didn't guess, the news piece is talking about the power-up boxes, where the mushrooms comes out.

Postcard to Australia

I got from school this really sucky postcard. When I was throwing it out, I noticed that it has POSTAGE PAID TO EVERY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. I mentioned this at one irc channel, where one aussie wanted me to send it to his friend. This is what the postcard looks in the front and this is what it looks like from the back.

In the front it says "Be different kind of an adult. Study."

On the back it says, "My love, I want to thank you for the days I shall never forget. You are always in my thoughts. <3"

The whole stuff is in finnish, and the aussie who asked me to send this promised to keep me updated what happens to this piece of paper as I get rid of it tomorrow.
